Take the Tour

The steeple on our little church is good to go for another 155 years!

Work on the steeple was completed in June 2018 at a cost of $15,000 to the Foundation. The contractors, P&P Management of Sun Prairie, donated the remaining $12,000 worth of labor and materials. Aside from looking brighter and whiter, the historic integrity of the steeple — still delightfully akimbo — remains.

The louvers in the bell tower were replaced with new cedar. The skirt surrounding the base of the steeple was re-roofed. While up there, we took photographs of the bell, cast in St. Louis, MO by the J.G. Stuckstede and Bro. foundry in St. Louis, Missouri four years after construction of the church itself in 1863. The Island Church is located at the corner of Island Church and Blue Joint Roads in the Town of Waterloo, WI.

“This little church has survived for 155 years, and we are going to take the steps necessary to help it continue to stand high its hillside for as many years as possible” Island Church Foundation President Chantel Blaschka said.
